Mark Watring

Mark Watring

Two-Time Olympian, Pan American Games and Central American Gold Medalist

Mark Watring is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and has spent 21 years in equestrian competitions. He continues at the top of the sport today and looks forward to his upcoming competitions, including the 2006 World Cup Finals in Malaysia, the Central American Games in Colombia, and the 2008 Olympics in China.

"TAHITIAN NONI™ Equine Essentials™ is a great daily supplement that improves my horses’ performance. It gives my horses the perfect balance of energy without making them hyper like other supplements that I have had experience with. I am also finding that I am using smaller quantities of other maintenance and joint supplements that can become very expensive. My horses love Equine Essentials!”

Two-Time Olympian, Pan American Games, and Central American Gold Medalist Mark Watring has spent 21 years in equestrian competitions, and he continues at the top of the sport today. His first major competition was the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, CA, where he competed in the Show Jumping competition.

Mark was named AGA (American Grand Prix Association) Rookie of the Year for 2001, and in 2002 he won the $35,000 Lexus of Glendale Memorial Grand Prix prize money, at the Memorial Day Classic Horse Show aboard his horse 'Sapphire'. Mark bested a field of 25 starters with a double clear round and the fastest time in the jump off of 41.176 seconds. This win moved Mark and Sapphire into fourth place for AGA Rider and Horse of the Year.

In 2003 Mark represented the United States in the Pan American Games, held in the Dominican Republic. The U.S. team took home the gold medal with a final total of 13.66 penalties compared to the 21.87 posted by second place Mexico.

This win secured Mark a place in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

The year 2004 saw Mark and Sapphire earn third place in the Bayer/USET Grand Prix, Indio Desert Circuit III, where they won $9,700 in prize money.

Mark also participated and represented Puerto Rico in the Show Jumping event in the 2004 Olympic Games.

Mark Watring currently rides and trains in southern California where he also teaches both children and adults. His wife Jenny is the captain of the Foxfield drill team, which rides without bridles or saddles. The drill team did an exhibition in the 1984 Olympic Games and continues to do exhibitions all over the country, including a show at Madison Square Garden.

Mark was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico; he and his wife Jenny now reside in Thousand Oaks, CA. They operate a training facility at the Blakiston Ranch in Hidden Valley. Mark has been competing internationally for Puerto Rico for the past 21 years.
