Tapping the Untapped Market

Heather Isham ’01, Nova Scotia, Canada, Triple Diamond Pearl

She remembers her first trip to corporate headquarters like it was yesterday. It was back in June 2001, only a month after Heather Isham signed up to be an Independent Product Consultant with Tahitian Noni International. She had traveled to Utah with her upline, Robert Dean, to learn more about the structure of the company and the compensation plan. "It blew me away," she says. Heather was most excited when she saw leaders' pictures on the wall. She had a deep sense that she could do it too.

Sharing=Volume
Heather builds her business volume by sharing the Tahitian Noni opportunity. "I believe every family should have a case of TAHITIAN NONI® Juice," she says. Once they have it, Heather takes the initiative to follow up with the opportunity.

"When I call people back to see how they’re doing and find out what results they got, I approach the business,” Heather explains. "I ask: 'Did it work for you? Do you have friends and family you care about who could benefit from it?' When people get good results, they want to share."

Heather's Success Tips
  1. Understand people.
  2. Take criticism; be willing to listen.
  3. Always be in leadership mode.
  4. Don't take anything personally.

Teach a System
"A lot of people get involved in this business and don’t understand building," says Heather. So she makes sure every new IPC learns the T.O.P.G.U.N. system, and she makes sure they start getting paid. "The only way to get a check is to follow the system," she reiterates.

Praise Progress
Letting people know they're doing a great job is one of Heather's most important keys to a strong organization. "People don't want to work hard and never be recognized," she explains. She includes recognition in her meetings, holds leader dinners, and is always finding verbal ways to support her team.

Lead by Example
"I don't tell anybody to do anything I don't do," Heather asserts. "People are watching me. If I stop, they'll stop." If she tells her team to bring prospects to meetings, it's a guarantee that Heather will be there with her own prospects.

"I'll tell you one thing: it's nice being able to have the comfortable lifestyle that comes with a Tahitian Noni® business. But what's really inspiring is seeing all the people you get to help."

Appreciate Families
Heather also hosts a yearly barbecue with her local team and encourages her leaders in all her markets to do the same. "We always talk about how our Tahitian Noni® businesses are family businesses," Heather says. "This barbecue lets us meet each other's families and have fun together. You have to have downtime with your group to build relationships."
