But does this methodology reveal the true fastest-growing company? Researchers at Griffin Hill Consulting were interested to address this question, measuring companies from founding to the end of the fifth year. They found that during the most competitive growth decade in the history of the world - including the dot-com boom - Tahitian Noni International of Orem, Utah, stands alone as the fastest-growing private company in its initial five years. Tahitian Noni International's achievement is even more amazing when compared to other companies on the Inc 500 list. Tahitian Noni International and High Point Solutions were both founded in 1996, and both appear on Inc 's 2001 list. High Point Solutions appeared as the number one growth company for the five year period, and Tahitian Noni International appeared as the 26th fastest-growing company for the same period. This ranking is curious, considering that High Point Solutions earned $60 million in its fifth year of existence and Tahitian Noni International earned $392 million in its fifth year of existence. In its fifth year of business, Tahitian Noni International did more revenue than High Point Solutions generated in total revenue for all five years combined. In light of these comparisons, Dr. Scott O. Baird, president of Griffin Hill Consulting, calls Tahitian Noni International's growth a remarkable achievement. The research criteria established by Griffin Hill Consulting included all five-year-old companies listed on the Inc 500 list that were founded in the past 20 years. All dollar volumes were adjusted for inflation, which allowed valid comparisons across economic periods. In addition, Griffin Hill disallowed growth that was the result of spin-offs, mergers, or acquisitions of established businesses. Finally, they excluded any company that is not currently in good standing or is no longer in business.
